About The Armored Group, Inc.
A family business almost a century old has been located in the Los Angeles since the 1920's. Armored began manufacturing footlockers (trunks) and steamers when railroad and steamer ship were the mode of transport. During these early years Armored developed a reputation for building quality products that you could rest assure during travel that your belonging (sometimes all one owned) would arrive undamaged.
During war times, Armored served the nation by building footlockers for troops traveling overseas. With the introduction of commercial airline travel Armored grew into one of the largest footlocker and luggage manufacturers in the country utilizing a Los Angeles based factory to produce goods sold around the country through a New York City sales and distribution office servicing some of the biggest national chains.
Through the 1980's Armored led through innovative specialty luggage packages such as its proprietary brands Alfredo Fettuccini, Sports Network and Luggage Set in a Box and through the licensing of key brands such as Budweiser, Charles Schultz's Snoopy and Friends and the 1984 Olympic Team USA. Sales surges as Armored became a top supplier and the largest luggage and trunk manufacturer West of the Mississippi.
In 1994, after much resistance to the changing marketplace for cheap imported goods, Armored sold its trunk and luggage business operations to the Seward Trunk Company whom then merged with Mercury Luggage Manufacturing Company to form the largest manufacturer of luggage and trunks in the United States. The divestiture of the trunk and luggage operations allowed for Armored to focus on its specialty custom case line, Innerspace Cases.
