The ARRI FF-5 studio follow focus is a precision gear train, and it only earns its keep if it arrives with the mesh untouched and the hard stops where the AC set them. This case protects it for a fraction of the unit's value.
CNC-cut foam captures the FF-5 body with the drive gear clear of contact and the marking disc supported flat, so nothing loads the gear train in transit. Separate fitted wells carry the whip, the speed crank, the marking discs, and the rod bracket. That count-at-a-glance layout means an AC or rental desk sees at a glance whether every disc and crank made it back before the case is signed in — the small parts are what go missing on a wrap.
An ATA-grade case is also what makes a freight claim winnable — carriers deny damage claims on self-packed equipment, while an ATA case makes the shipment insurable and the claim defensible. What fits inside?
As built, the FF-5 body in a contoured pocket with the drive gear relieved, plus fitted wells for the whip, speed crank, marking discs, and rod bracket.
Will it hold an FF-4 as well as an FF-5?
Yes — we build a shared FF-4/FF-5 layout with studio support, and dedicated single-unit cases for either. Tell us which units travel together and we cut one interior that takes both.
Is the gear train protected from impact?
The body seats so the drive gear never contacts foam or case wall, and the unit is suspended away from the shell. The point is that it arrives meshing exactly as it left.
Can it be combined with a matte box in one case?
Yes. A combined LMB 4x5 or MB-20ii plus FF-5 case is one of our most-requested front-end builds — one case, both units, cut to sit together.
What's the lead time, and can you rush it?
